  Dr. James J. Purdy, founder of Total Care for Women, has practiced in Meridian. Ms for greater than 3 decades. He was the founder of the modern Rush Ob/Gyn department at Rush Hospital and Rush Medical Group Ob/Gyn department. Dr. Purdy has fostered innovations and advancement in the female medical services including first to introduce single room labor/delivery/postpartum care to East Central Mississippi and West Alabama in the mid 1980's.

Elite obstetrrical service incudes individualized maternity care in a modern office equipped witht the latest advances in equipment to aid in the care, diagnosis and treatment of the pregnant patient. Dr. James Purdy has always been a right to life oriented physician. Obstetrical outpatient and inpatient services are provided at the modern Rush Hospital Family Birth Center.  Dr. James Purdy shares call arrangements with Rush affiliated physicians at all times - 24/7. The theme is Rush together for complete uninterrupted  high quality Ob care for the patient. The obstetrical patient's neonate is cared for by Rush neonatal level two services. Rush was the first facility in a town this size to add neonatal specialists.

  Total Care for Women utilizes electronic medical record system by Greenway. Dr. Purdy has used electronic medical records since 2002. These records allow for a more complete doucmentation of the Ob patient.  The  elite service also also provides 3 D ultrasound imaging.

Dr. Purdy refers and co-manages high risk obstetrical patient care and evalaution with two  noted perinatolgists (Drs Ken Perry and Robert Naef) in Jackson, Mississippi. A secondary Ob office for Dr. Purdy is located in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

   Dr. James Purdy is board certified in Ob/Gyn. He is an active member of the American College of Ob/Gyn since November 1977 (ACOG).
